Linear attribution

Linear attribution is a model that splits the credit for a conversion equally across every touchpoint in the journey. If a buyer saw a LinkedIn post, opened a newsletter and clicked a search ad before buying, each of the three touchpoints receives one third of the conversion and one third of its value.

How it works in Collabre

Each conversion path is read as an ordered list of touchpoints, and every touchpoint receives the same share. When the same channel appears more than once in a path, its shares are added together, so a channel that touched the buyer twice receives twice the credit of one that touched them once.

Linear is a fair starting point when you do not yet know which stage of the journey matters most. It treats a passing impression and the decisive click as equal, so compare it with time-decay or position-based before drawing strong conclusions.

The five models in Collabre

Collabre offers five attribution models: last-click, first-click, linear, time-decay and position-based. The model is picked per report rather than once for the Workspace, so an awareness Campaign and a direct response Campaign can each be read with the model that suits it. Use the same model when you compare two periods.
